Birk passed away August 28, 2012 at the age of 16 years and 4 months. Ten days earlier he had relived some of his show dog glory days in the Veterans class at the Swedish Vallhund Club of Canada National Specialty. He shed his "old dog" demeanour and became a show dog again. He trotted around the ring like he owned it, as he always did. Goodbye until we meet again, dear friend, you were one in a million.

As the #1 Swedish Vallhund in Canada for 1998, 2000, 2002 and 2003, and the sire of many Champions, both in Canada and around the world, Birk has proven himself to be a spectacular show dog, outstanding sire and beloved pet, and his sweet temperament and calm disposition make him a wonderful breed ambassador.
Birk also won the 1999 Swedish Vallhund booster, was Best in Specialty Show at the 2000 Canadian National Specialty, and has multiple group placements, including a group first.
